It’s pistols at dawn in Phuket. Will you accept the challenge?

Wil Banks is spitting blood and this time he’s not letting it lie. The Texan cowboy has thrown down the gauntlet to anyone who’s up to his challenge.
You see, Wil, just won’t accept that there are any better villas on Phuket than Layan Hills Estate. In fact when I mentioned that there were other quality villas on the island for a similar price he almost bit my head off. “Impossible!”, he yelled. “Nobody can beat the quality and value at Layan Hills Estate.”
He does have a point; the gardens are huge, beautifully landscaped and exceptionally private. Then there are the living and dining areas which open out onto the terraces and swimming pool deck. It’s the perfect villa for entertaining.
In fact if Wil wasn’t so darn mad he’d probably be entertaining right now, shaking cocktails at his pool bar and chatting with friends. That’s what he does best.
“Rebecca”, he glared, “Are you telling me that there are other villas as large as Layan Hills Estate with the same maka wood floors and top class aluminum windows, for the same price? Think about it, our four bedroom villas are more than 720 sqm and our five bedroom villas are 870 sqm. Are you sure there’s another villa on the island that big for this price?”
Before I could tell Wil he was probably right, he continued his rant.
“Layan Hills Estate is located in the heart of Phuket’s most affluent area, just a five minute drive from the beach, 10 minutes from a major supermarket and 20 minutes from Phuket International Airport. I’d say that was pretty convenient wouldn’t you?”
He’s right of course, and people who actually live at Layan Hills Estate wouldn’t argue.
Julie Thomas, who was also caught up in the ‘discussion’ said: “This is home to us now and although we fly back to Hong Kong on occasion to see the family, we really like the slower pace of life and the wonderful environment. We have great shopping centre, good food malls and excellent health care with two international hospitals. There are three good international standard schools and I’m even encouraging my daughter to bring her two boys here to school so they can grow up in a natural environment.”
So, is Wil right. Can any other villas in Phuket compete with Layan Hills Estate?
Before you accept his challenge, don’t forget Layan Hills Estate has huge gardens of 1,600 sqm or more, exceptionally private grounds with established landscaping, large interior living spaces, 405 sqm (four-bedroom), 517 sqm (five-bedroom), top quality fittings, maka wood floors, top class aluminum windows. and a convenient location, close to beaches, supermarkets, schools, hospitals and Phuket International Airport. And the prices? They start from THB 39 million.
Now, are you ready to accept Wil’s challenge? Okay, here it is.
“If you can prove that you’ve bought a better villa than Layan Hills Estate anywhere on Phuket without an ocean view for the same price or less – I’ll treat you and your family to an all expenses paid meal at a restaurant of your choice – so you can tell me why?”
Don’t be alarmed this lovable Texan has done ranting and he’s back to his laid-back self. But his challenge is real. Make no mistake, it’s not revenge he’s after it’s the reckoning.
