A 29-story building and a four-story theater will be constructed at the site of the Kabuki-Za theater after the historic structure is demolished, according to a renewal plan drawn up by Shochiku Co.
At some 150 meters high, the planned high-rise will be the tallest in Tokyo´s Ginza district.
Construction will begin in October 2010 and is slated to finish in March 2013.
An official decision on the project, including a reassessment of its cost, will be made this summer.
The new theater´s exterior will be modeled after the current structure. The establishment will be equipped with cutting-edge stage facilities and seats offering better viewing.“
